Super Bowl 2027: Everything We Know About LXI in Los Angeles

The confetti from Super Bowl LX barely hit the ground at Levi's Stadium before the NFL pivoted west. The Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee officially received the handoff of Super Bowl LXI on February 9, 2026, confirming the game will be played at SoFi Stadium on February 14, 2027. That date matters. It will be the first Super Bowl ever played on Valentine's Day and the first to fall on Presidents' Day weekend.
If you're already thinking about flowers and dinner reservations, you might want to reconsider. Or at least negotiate early.
The Venue: SoFi Stadium Returns
Super Bowl LXI is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This will be the ninth Super Bowl hosted by the Greater Los Angeles area and the second at this venue, following Super Bowl LVI in 2022. That game saw the Los Angeles Rams defeat the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 on their home field.
Opened in September 2020, the stadium has a capacity of 70,240, expandable to over 100,000 for major events, and features a translucent roof made of ETFE panels allowing for sunlight and climate control. The design creates what architects call an "indoor-outdoor" experience. At 3.1 million square feet, SoFi Stadium is the largest stadium in the NFL.
The building cost somewhere north of $5 billion when you include the surrounding Hollywood Park development. That figure made it the most expensive stadium ever constructed at the time. Beneath the roof is another major achievement: a record-breaking giant screen marketed as "the oculus." The panoramic, double-sided structure weighs 1,000 tons and offers 6,500 square meters of display space, reaching 109 meters in length and 12 meters in height.
The 2027 game marks the second Super Bowl in LA this decade and comes 60 years after the first Super Bowl was played at the LA Memorial Coliseum in 1967. The symmetry isn't lost on organizers.
Broadcasting History in the Making
The television setup for Super Bowl LXI will be unlike any previous championship game. The game is planned to be nationally televised by ESPN and ABC, marking the first Super Bowl simulcast between the two sister networks, the first time ABC will air the Super Bowl since Super Bowl XL in 2006, and the first time ever that ESPN will air the Super Bowl.
That's a 21-year gap for ABC. The network last broadcast the big game when the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Seattle Seahawks in Detroit.
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will call the game, their seventh Super Bowl together and their first with ESPN. ESPN has also confirmed that the "Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli" alternate telecast will be part of the coverage.
Eli Manning confirmed Omaha Productions and ESPN are already planning a ManningCast for ESPN's first Super Bowl telecast. "That will be new for us. Very exciting," the two-time Super Bowl MVP said about broadcasting the Big Game of 2027.
Additionally, the event will be streamed on the ESPN App, Disney+ and NFL+. A ManningCast alternate broadcast will also be available. For cord-cutters, this could be the most accessible Super Bowl in years.
The official logo for Super Bowl LXI was unveiled by ESPN on February 8, 2026, during a special post-Super Bowl LX edition of SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt from SoFi Stadium. It was formally unveiled during a post-game press conference in Los Angeles the following day, accompanied by an introductory video narrated by Inglewood-based rapper D Smoke. The traditional Roman numerals contain imagery of waves, reflecting the region's surfing culture.
The Halftime Show: No Announcement Yet
The NFL has yet to announce its Super Bowl 61 halftime show performer. It's probably going to be a while before that happens, too. Roc Nation, led by Jay-Z, has overseen halftime show selections since 2020. The announcement typically comes in the fall before the game.
That hasn't stopped oddsmakers from speculating. According to various sports publications, which have aggregated data from FanDuel Canada, Miley Cyrus, Cardi B, and Taylor Swift led early betting odds to headline the 2027 Super Bowl halftime show.
It's worth noting that the last three Super Bowl headliners have been men, so it wouldn't be surprising if they look to change things up with a woman headlining in 2027. Bad Bunny delivered what many called one of the finest halftime performances ever at Super Bowl LX, weaving Puerto Rican culture and politics into a 12-minute set.
"There is no bigger star in the world of music, and Roger Goodell has stated that the NFL would gladly welcome Swift to the Super Bowl stage if she ever wants to perform." (CBS Sports)
Roger Goodell has stated the NFL would welcome Swift if she wants to perform. Swift's engagement to Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has brought her much closer to the NFL in recent years, making it feel like a Super Bowl performance is simply a matter of when, not if.
Other names floated include Ariana Grande, Dua Lipa, and Megan Thee Stallion. Given the location, many expect an L.A. flair, as was the case the last time SoFi Stadium hosted the Super Bowl, when Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar all performed as part of a halftime show medley. Location isn't always factored, but being in L.A. shouldn't make it too difficult to find interested acts.
Tickets: Early Pricing and Access
If you're serious about attending, prepare your wallet now. For fans who want to get in to see Super Bowl for the lowest price, tickets on resale markets currently start at $8,414. The average ticket price for Super Bowl is $10,775. Those numbers will shift considerably once the participating teams are determined.
The cost of Super Bowl tickets varies each year based on matchups, location and many other factors. As one of the most popular events in the world, Super Bowl ticket prices fluctuate in the weeks and days leading up to the event.
Ticket Type | Estimated Price (USD) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Upper Deck (entry level) | $8,400+ | Current resale floor |
Average ticket | $10,775 | Varies by matchup |
Travel packages (international) | $11,950+ | Includes hotel, transfers |
Club seats (200-level) | POA | Premium hospitality included |
Travel packages for international visitors, including hotel and game tickets, start from approximately $11,950 per person based on comparable Super Bowl pricing. Pricing is expected to be similar for Super Bowl LXI when the NFL sets official ticket prices.
LA's Big Three Years
Super Bowl LXI in 2027 will be a key milestone in an unprecedented decade for major events for Los Angeles, as the region prepares to welcome the FIFA World Cup (2026), Super Bowl LXI (2027), and the Olympic & Paralympic Games (2028) in three consecutive years.
The city hasn't seen anything quite like this sequence. In 2026, SoFi Stadium will host eight matches of the FIFA World Cup, including the U.S. Men's National Team's opening match against Paraguay on June 12. In 2028, the venue will co-host the Olympic Opening Ceremony with the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and host Olympic swimming events and the Paralympic Opening Ceremony.
"We are thrilled to return to the world-class SoFi Stadium for Super Bowl LXI, five years after the Los Angeles Rams lifted the Lombardi Trophy on their home field," said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.
The Host Committee is already working on community initiatives. Through LASEC's Business Connect program, 225 women-, minority-, LGBTQIA+-, and veteran-owned businesses participated in Super Bowl LVI, ensuring local businesses had access to compete for contracting opportunities. In 2027, the program will continue connecting local businesses across Los Angeles to Super Bowl opportunities.
What Remains Unknown
The biggest question won't be answered until late January 2027: who's playing? The conference championship games will determine the matchup roughly two weeks before kickoff. The game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET, the same start time that has been in place since the 1990s.
National anthem performer, pregame entertainment, and halftime details typically emerge in the months leading up to the game. Advertisers will begin locking in commercial spots sometime in late 2026, with 30-second spots likely commanding north of $7 million based on recent trends.
ESPN's promotional campaign, called "We're Going," debuted with a 60-second spot on February 10, 2026, and has been in the works for about two years. The network is treating this like a tentpole film release, with marketing rolling out through March Madness and the NFL Draft.
For now, the date is circled. February 14, 2027. Whether you spend it with your significant other or 100,000 of your closest friends at SoFi Stadium is between you and your relationship.
